Sky Vision Productions is producing a 1 x60' documentary about Typhoon Haiyan for Sky 1 HD. A US version is being co-produced with PBS science series producers, NOVA.
Typhoon Haiyan: Eye Of The Storm is produced by Sky Vision in conjunction with Sky News and award-winning producer/director Dick Bower. Bower’s previous credits include Hurricane Sandy and Raising the Concordia (Discovery US).
The documentary will combine footage from several documentary news teams on the ground in the Philippines, expert testimony from world-renowned scientists, and first-person accounts from survivors. It will be produced by the same team who last year produced Sky Vision’s acclaimed documentary Superstorm Sandy (1 x 60’) for History Channel US.
Sky Vision controls worldwide distribution rights, and is in the process of securing pre-sales prior to delivery of the documentary on December 10.
Danny Tipping, Executive Producer and Head of Programming & Development, Sky Vision, comments:
“There is a growing demand for fast-turnaround documentaries from international broadcasters. This programme will provide an opportunity to hear first-hand from the world’s leading storm scientists, about their insights and assessment on how Typhoon Haiyan formed, why it turned out so deadly and what it means for the future.”
Typhoon Haiyan: Eye Of The Storm is due to TX on Sky 1 HD on Wednesday 11th December at 9pm.
