International clip show sales surge for Sky Vision and Bellum Entertainment

Sky Vision, the international distribution and production arm of Sky, today announced strong worldwide sales for its slate of clip content acquired from Bellum Entertainment in the US.

Sky Vision began its partnership with Bellum Entertainment in 2014 and has since picked up more than 260 hours of content from the Californian-based production company. Great Escapes is the latest series to launch.

What Went Down (104 x 30’) has sold to 124 territories. The series captures the best UGC clips from around the world. From epic fails and comic mishaps to shocking near-misses and exhilarating stunts, each half-hour episode is carefully crafted to produce maximum fun, with returning segments to keep the audience engaged. Sales include Seven Network in Australia, Blue Ant Media in Canada, BBC Worldwide in Poland, Discovery Focus in Italy and Globosat in Brazil.

Another international hit is
Animals Unleashed (104 x 30’), a user-generated show which features the most unpredictable and hilarious animal clips from around the world. From a panda picking a fight with a businessman, to an angry ostrich eating a reporter’s bowtie - each episode is packaged into segments, features or even games and comes with highly entertaining narration. The show has been sold into 109 territories, including Channel 4 in the UK, NBC Universal in Asia, Fox International in Sweden and Norway, TV2 in Denmark and Sony in Africa.

Also performing well is
People Behaving Badly (104 x 22’). A laugh-out-loud tour of the embarrassing, out-of-control and generally ridiculous things that people do under pressure, from elaborate practical jokes to public meltdowns and mishaps. It has been sold into 54 territories including MTG in Norway, Polsat Play in Poland and Sony in Africa.

SBS in Norway, MTG in Latvia and Polsat Play in Poland have all acquired
Kids do the Craziest Things (104 x 30’) - a classic collection of home-movie clips of kids around the world. From the boy who sees his newborn sister for the first time and says “we found a baby!”, to the well-meaning child who uses the hose to wash his parents’ car from the inside.

Karen Wise, Senior Sales Manager at Sky Vision said: “Our alliance with Bellum Entertainment is proving to be a great success delivering enormously entertaining content which can fit into any schedule. Buyers across the world have committed to the series prior to the completion of production, which demonstrates the keen demand for this type of content. We are now focusing on positioning the shows with US cable channels at Realscreen.”

Mary Carole McDonnell, Founder and President, at Bellum Entertainment said:
“We strive to produce compelling and entertaining formats and programs that can be viewed at any hour and in any territory. Our partnership with Sky Vision has led to great success of these series airing globally and we are excited to increase their play in the US market for 2016.”
