Sky Vision, the production and distribution arm of Sky, has today announced that it will be bringing the global stars of the exhilarating street race drama Curfew to MIPCOM, the world’s prestigious entertainment market, next month.
Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), Phoebe Fox (The Woman in Black 2, Angel of Death), Malachi Kirby (Black Mirror) and Billy Zane (Titanic) will all be in attendance on Monday 15th October to introduce the new series to the global market.
As well as controlling the international rights, Sky Vision is also a co-funding partner of the drama that premieres on Sky One in early 2019.
The show, which follows the story of ordinary people and extraordinary characters competing in the world’s fastest, most furious illegal night-time street race sees the ensemble cast going head to head in an insanely dangerous life and death contest.
Desperate, and each entering for their own reasons, the challengers risk everything as they race through the night from London to northernmost Scotland in their pimped-up vehicles to win the ultimate prize – freedom from a totalitarian government and the curfew they have imposed, which controls all of their lives.
The eight-part Sky Original Production, from Tiger Aspect Productions in association with Moonage Pictures, will be available exclusively on Sky One and TV streaming service NOW TV next year.
Curfew was commissioned for Sky by Head of Drama Anne Mensah and Director of Programming for Sky Entertainment UK & Ireland, Zai Bennett.
Jason Simms, Director of Drama and Comedy at Sky Vision, said: “Curfew is an absolute monster of a show and we think audiences everywhere are going to love strapping in for the ride of their lives. With eye-popping stunts and scary as hell moments, Curfew promises to be a massive blast of fun, action and emotion, and we can’t wait to get off the start line!”
Sky’s Head of Drama, Anne Mensah said: “No-one in the UK has ever made a show like Curfew before. The combination of engaging characters and fast cars is absolutely unique in the market and we are so pleased to be able to premiere the show on Sky. We are over the moon to welcome our outstanding cast to MIPCOM.”
Curfew is written and executive produced by Matthew Read (Pusher, Hammer of the Gods). The series is executive produced for Tiger Aspect Productions by Will Gould and Frith Tiplady in association with their new independent production company Moonage Pictures. It is directed and co-executive produced by Colm McCarthy (The Girl with All the Gifts, Peaky Blinders) and is produced by Simon Maloney (King Charles III, Peaky Blinders).
